Jack Lee, Founder & Owner

When Jack walked into a dealership to begin a part-time job while in college, he had no way of knowing that he would still be marching around car dealerships forty years later. Having served as a service cashier and progressed up to a CFO and General Manager, Jack found his niche in managing accounting and finance. His bachelor’s degree in accounting has served him well. Often, people comment that dealership accounting is “different” and, therefore, difficult. But Jack contends that the accounting theory in the retail automobile business is right out of a textbook and really “not that hard.”

After Controller/CFO positions in five organizations spanning almost thirty-five years, in 2013, he created Auto Dealer Consulting LLC. The car business has been a good career. While it is still a profession, sharing knowledge and experience to give back to the retail auto dealer community is a large part of the mission. But, there are plenty of new things to learn. Usually, engagements present challenges and new twists to old problems. And like most environments, technology is a game of leapfrog. But, Auto Dealer Consulting considers personnel development the paramount responsibility.

Jack lives in the historic city neighborhood of Fell’s Point in Baltimore, Maryland.  Jack’s wife, Sharon, also has a finance background and is with The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Sharon often is wise counsel for business strategy and issues.  They have three children with seven grandkids who reside in Annapolis, Jacksonville, and Baltimore.

Dave Wilson, Consultant

Dave is a former CPA with a solid car dealer accounting background. Additionally, his operational expertise is second to none. He lives in Reisterstown, MD, and has been working with Auto Dealer Consulting since 2014.

Laurie Nelson, Associate

Laurie joined our team in 2022. We are delighted to partner with such a talented associate. With over thirty years of dealership experience, Laurie has been employed by only three retail automotive companies. While most of that time has been as a Controller, she has paid her dues by experiencing many of the desks in the Accounting Department. Therefore, she brings that practical, hands-on approach to processes and systems. Laurie has the rare talent to be friendly and personable while expecting quality performance. Laurie is a Harford County, Maryland native and currently lives in Bel Air, Maryland. She is the proud mother of two boys and has three adorable grandsons.

Tom Hunt, a Memorial

Tom was a key associate on our team until his untimely death in 2021. Tom and I had a work history back to 2004. Together, we survived working through the aftermath of Hurricane Charley and dozens of consulting engagements up and down the East Coast. From a work perspective, I really miss his knack for analyzing an existing process or system and re-engineering it for accuracy and efficiency. As a person, he was relentless and hard-charging but friendly and fun. More than once he was labeled “the Mayor of ‘whatever town we were working in’” by a dealer principal.
